We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Addison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Originally when I started Seven Kisses I handled it as just a hobby, something I wanted to do but not 100% of the time. Over time I began to vision more for Seven Kisses, I began to desire more for Seven Kisses and so in return I wanted more. Once I saw my vision and realized that it was possible I began to work my full time job and work my business as a business: in between work, on my off days and after I got off work. Soon I realized that I began working my business just as I would my full time job. The time I put into my business comes easy because it’s something I’m passionate about and enjoy doing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My drive and ambition is what set’s me apart from others. I don’t quit no matter how many obstacles I face I still find innovative ways to navigate and work towards my dreams coming true. I am most proud of my growth and determination to see things through. As a mom of 8 children life can sometimes get busy so I have to find innovative ways to push through to ensure that I don’t let my dreams die. I got where I am today professionally by keeping God first and allowing him to order my steps. It’s not always easy because sometimes what I want is not what God wants for my life so it’s always challenging. The lessons I have learned along the way are not every open door is an open door for me and that it is okay.
I want the world to know that as a wife and mom of 8 your story doesn’t have to end there. It’s actually more reason to keep going. We often times hear how we can’t dream anymore or pursue our dreams because we’ve built families, but I am the exception to the rule. I am showing other moms its in fact quite the opposite. Seven Kisses Candle Company was birth from the mere fact that I am a mom of 8 whose life gets busy, hectic, and even chaotic. I was actually running on E, always tired and burnt out (Mommy burnout is definitely real). Seven Kisses helped me to see the importance of self-care and self- love. It helped me to learn how to love on myself and be able to spend time pouring into me just as I do daily for my family. We hear so often you can’t pour from an empty cup. So Seven Kisses was my way of pampering and loving on myself; giving myself the “Me Time” that I deserve. I want Moms to know that self-care is not selfish and they should definitely take time out to pour into themselves so that they can be well rested and able to pour into the lives of others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area and I had to plan a week long trip I would probably be tired just thinking about it. lol. I’m a homebody for the most part. However, if 2021 has taught me anything it’s that I need more adult interaction and because I’m such a foodie who loves to eat at new places. I have an entire list ready.
We would definitely try a few new food places such as: Mo Better Brew, NeYows Creole Cafe, Babbins, Greasy Spoon.
I would plan an amazing fun, relaxing spa day at Fiori’s because I love all things relaxation. We would have to go fishing and experience the wildlife.
Now because we are ladies and we have to make sure we can protect ourselves we could do the gun range. Have to get in some adventure with Indoor sky diving.
Horseback riding ending the evening with some nice jazz (Groove on the green). Nothing like Saturday night listening to Jazz, doing a little therapeutic shopping, while enjoying the fall breeze. We’d leave Sunday for Church, brunch at home & long naps! I would need another week just to rest and recharge from so much social interaction.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family & friends. My husband and my 8 amazing children. Who never stops believing in me, cheering me on, and being supportive. They push me to want more for myself and ensure that I have the space I need to be the creative that I am. They are patient and understanding and I love them for that. It’s because of them that I dream to go further and keep my dreams alive and never gave up on myself. They reassure me that I have so much to give to the world and support everything I do. The support system I have is very Strong.
