We had the good fortune of connecting with Wes McMahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wes, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was something my dad and I always talked about after I graduated with my Masters in Accounting, but it was just an nebulous idea “in the future.” I got my accounting experience in the private sector for 6 years until I was surprised by a lay off in the summer of 2018. “The future” had arrived sooner than anticipated, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we’ve been in business ever since then.
What should our readers know about your business?
My firm is different from the others because we strive to focus on the relationship with our clients. We don’t just want to do your tax return, we want to educate and help our clients grow their business. I’m most excited about our new advisory service packages that we will be offering to new and existing clients by January 2022. We’ll be able to share our knowledge and best practices with our clients to help them become more tax efficient and grow their business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Excalibur Brewery in Old Town Spring is a great place to start with their selection of wonderful craft beers. If it is during baseball season, Minute Maid Park is always a great place to go to experience a beautiful ballpark and great baseball.
The Game Preserve in The Woodlands is a retro arcade that definitely scratches that nostalgia itch.
Fogo de Chao is always a must visit for any (special) occasion. I cannot get enough of their delicious mouth watering food and great service! My wife and I love it so much that we got married there!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my wife, Gladys. She was still in college when I started the business, and she gave me all of the support I needed to get everything up and running. The business wouldn’t be here today without her!
