We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenneth D Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenneth D, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Education, 100% education. If you don’t take the time to do the research and understand your business before getting into it you’re going to have an extremely tough start.
Once you’ve begun you have to remember consistency because otherwise you’ll stop growing and hit a stand still. That’s where people lose their motivation and to avoid that I continuously take classes! That way I can always be learning something new and consistently, see what I did there, enjoy my business!
If you love what you do people will see that and the results will naturally follow.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m really proud that I’m taking the time to educate my clients about their hair. A lot of people tried a lot of things during quarantine and the results worked really well for some! …on the other hand, for others they didn’t quite luck out but that’s where I come in!
Sharing my education and knowledge is part of the job and when you don’t take the time to figure out your clients desires are, and what’s actually achievable, you’re in for a disaster. Patience is a hard thing to learn but if you have it the results will be a happy client and longevity in every aspect which leads to success!
I love taking them back to a more natural, lived in look and luckily it’s trending for 2022! I’ll be able to use my favorite techniques AND see so many smiles when everyone has that big reveal!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s funny this is a question because I want my friends to come in town for Houston’s BIGGEST event…the rodeo!
If they could fly in a day before cook off to hit up Snooze for Brunch we could then hit up the museums and have a nice dinner at Postino’s in the Heights.
After that we’d spend a day at the cook off trying every kind of BBQ Texas has!
The next day we’d be back at the Rodeo to ride all of the rides, saddle up for a mechanical bull ride and then cover our eyes during the actual ones while living our best lives during the Wagon Races & whomever is opening that night!
To show them a little country we’d have to book a GetAway House right outside of Houston because it’s AMAZING and so close!
Before they left we’d probably have one last night for dinner and drinks and we’d have to check out St Arnold, it has great food and drinks plus I love the vibe!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Between everyone at Beautique Day Spa & Salon Town and Country, there’s also Jamie Dana and The Blonde Chronicles.
I have some amazing mentors at the salon and because of the pandemic social media introduced me to Jamie and The BCU.
Beautique has constant guests artists coming in plus an annual hair show with some of the TOP educators in the industry!
Instagram brought Jamie and The BCU into my world when I needed it most and not only did they help keep me sane but they also helped me realize and develop my specialties, thank y’all!
