We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecille Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cecille, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk- taking is important in business it leads to new opportunities and innovations. The willingness to experiment with new ideas and being open to new ideas I feel is key to business growth. If you don’t embrace taking a risk, you might want to reconsider being an entrepreneur.

Customers have constantly changing demands. For this reason alone, business should be adaptable and be in constant state of progress.

This pandemic had a huge impact in my business. My corporate events over the last two years and even now we’re canceled. This is 50% of my profit. I had to find different ways to mitigate this loss. In 2020, I designed a lanyard to hold the face mask. I had various options. My bestseller was the personalized kids Face Mask Lanyards. I added a breakaway connector for safety and can be personalized with the kids name. This became my bestseller . I sold more than 30,000 pieces.

I also started consigning my jewelry to local businesses. I designed and create pieces that is exclusive for each businesses. In addition, I now offer wholesale pricing for my jewelry.

Being an entrepreneur, you have to be brave enough to take risks, this is how you gain competitive advantage. Nobody can really be sure if risks will pay off, no matter how calculated they may be but if you want your business to succeed, risk are necessary.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my career in the fast-paced world of fashion. It was a dream come true when I became a buyer for a major corporation. However, my professional ambitions shifted when I became a mother of two beautiful children. I wanted to find a career that had flexibility and a more appropriate balance between career and family life. Jewelry making was an accidental happiness, as I discovered this newfound ambition while helping my children up-cycle old jewelry for an Earth Day school project. I enjoyed it so much that I started designing and creating pieces for myself. The pieces caught the attention of my friends, neighbors and family. Following such a positive response, I began designing, creating and selling jewelry products on the Etsy Handmade sellers site. Perfectly Imperfect! This is how I describe my jewelry. I create pieces inspired by the mystical energy and beauty of natural crystals and gemstones. I draw inspiration and design pieces using natural beads and findings. I love incorporating fashion and nature into my design. I design quality jewelry pieces that have character and styles.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the Woodlands and even though it’s not Houston we do have some amazing hot spots. I like to go to Tris for happy hour. I love going for a walk at the waterway and maybe stop at Cyclone Anayas for margaritas and nacho’s. I also kayaking and going for a nature walk at Jones State Park. For some unique shopping and crystals shopping, I would go to Old Town Spring.
