We had the good fortune of connecting with Viktoria Marchev and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viktoria, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I made multiple promises to myself. Habit one: One of them was to work on my brand every day. Even when I can only sustain myself with working somewhere else I always want to make sure there is at least one thing I do for my brand every day. It can be as little as an Instagram post, or working on my website, answering to interview questions, anything that keeps me going. Habit two: Also I promised to help myself, to be a very supportive assistant of mine. Sometimes it is easy to get discouraged, and to only look at what you haven’t achieved yet. And artistically it can be a huge problem which can pull you back in your creative process. So even when I was not in the mood of creating I decided to prepare everything for myself so when I’m in the mood I will only need to work. Habit three: I feel most of my successes come from moments when I am brave enough to say yes to the opportunities which come to my way.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to find the niches. I create garments of liquid silicone rubber, crocheted crinoline dress or hydro dipped pieces. I love to experiment. I love to make unusual garments. However it essentially means the market for it is a niche market too. I think I am learning to balance how to make my pieces more wearable.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think a road trip is the most appropriate and I would definitely want to show Utah, Arizona and the Canyons.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I guess you found me due to my showcase at MILLENIAL Merch in Houston, Texas, let’s mention Vorise Chantel the organizer, who provided me with the opportunity to be at the Wortham Theater with my new collection in the framework of a fully sponsored runway show.
