Meet Daniel Smith | ARTIST

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk as something that has to be purposeful, not reckless. In my life and career, taking risks has played a big role in helping me grow, step outside my comfort zone, and pursue opportunities that could lead to something bigger. At the same time, I believe in staying grounded in principles, morals, and structure.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is really a reflection of my life, my faith, and the structure I was raised on. What sets me apart is that I stay true to what’s real. I keep God first in everything I do, and I bring honesty, struggle, growth, and real-life experiences into my craft. I’m not trying to follow trends or be somebody I’m not ,I want people to feel authenticity whenever they hear or see my work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For food, you already know we hitting Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken because you can’t go wrong with that. Good food, good energy, and one of them spots you always gotta take somebody to when they visiting.
The week would really be about kicking back, enjoying life, and showing them the real culture ,late night talks, music, good laughs, and being around people that feel like family. We’d hit local spots, ride around the city, catch different events, maybe some live music, and just enjoy the atmosphere instead of forcing anything too fancy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I dedicate my shoutout to God for guiding me through every step of my journey and keeping me grounded through all the highs and lows. I also give a lot of credit to my pops and the family he built — the seeds he brought into this world — because they taught me strength, loyalty, and how to stand on principles. And definitely my moms too, for all the struggles and trials we went through together. Every lesson.
