We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelek Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelek, why did you pursue a creative career?
Being able to capture special moments in people lives is my reason why I pursued photography. I love being able to capture photos for people and their different milestones in life, whether it is maternity photos, yearly family Christmas photos or graduation photos. I am a hype man photographer, while taking pictures, I want you to enjoy the experience and also feel comfortable during the session. It excites me to have loyal clients as well, it just makes me feel as if I am doing something right behind the camera.

My crafting business just started this past year. I bought myself a Cricut machine for Christmas in 2020 because I wanted to be able to customize anything I wanted too. I think my new favorite craft that I have gotten into is making resin eye lash holders and ash trays. Being able to express myself in different ways, I feel like has helped me a lot with my mental health. I LOVE having different outlets that allows me to be creative, in more than one way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently working in the Human Resource Field. I graduated from Sam Houston State University, December of 2018, with my Human Resource Degree. Being in the HR field is not easy and it was not easy getting a decent paying job fresh out of college. Most jobs will state entry level but require 3-5 years of experience. I’ve been at my current job now for almost 3 years. I did take a different HR Position for a few months, thinking that it would help me get more HR experience, but it was not what I thought it was. I quit without having a backup plan and was jobless for a month. It was one of my biggest struggles I’ve had to overcome. A few months of working a different job I went back to where I started. This lesson taught me that no matter, what the job might have to offer, it might not be better for you mentally. I also learned that I will not allow another job to affect my mental and that if it ever gets that bad again, I will leave with no hesitation. I want my story to help people and know that to never give up, things will get better and to keep pushing!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have such an AMAZING support system; I don’t even know where to begin. My mom has to be my BIGGEST supporter. Without her, I don’t know where I would be in life. She is my literal backbone and I can count on her to be there for me for anything. The rest of my family has also supported me through everything thing as well, I really do it for them. I must admit, I have the best friends anyone could ever ask for. Everyone should have friends like mine, just not mine.
