Meet She’s Face | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with She’s Face and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi She’s, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Music is my first love, honestly. It’s something I’ve always done effortlessly. My parents met in the band, she played the flute and he played drums. It’s safe to say I grew up in studios, no matter where I’ve lived. My dad created these environments when we shared a home and allowed me to thrive there. After some time in girl groups, creating Youtube content, paid performances at funerals, high school clubs, auditions, commercials and so much more – I removed myself from all sorts of potential control and direction. It put me in a position to speak my truth with no outside noise. I no longer had the support of someone else’s creative direction, and I thrived in that solitude. My life is a movie, seriously, so maybe one day I’ll tell my story but overall, a lot of experiences gave me two options; sink or swim, and I just keep swimming. I love my journey into music and being a witness to the new heights I’m constantly reaching. I admire people with musical knowledge in terms of technicalities because a lot of what I create is free-styled/done based on sound and memory alone. Very grateful and present in my gifts. Sharing took courage.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’ve learned so many lessons and I continue to learn. A constant streak I notice for myself is learning lessons at a quicker rate than otherwise expected, in my childhood for reference. I developed faith in a path cleared specifically for me, and I walk that path. Every day. My story is still being written and I’m loving every moment of it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like YOGA! I did a class with J’nae Bless at XO Studios and that was an amazing experience. She now does yoga for a non profit organization; Yoga for Change USA. I also love La Calle, they have an amazing birria taco. I also have done some open mics here as well, the community is great but I’m definitely still exploring. I moved here from Chicago but prior I was also a student at Texas Southern University, so I’m familiar of course but finding my area will definitely require more learning.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to anyone who’s listened to my music, shared intimate moments with me, and interacted with me in any way. Every moment is an opportunity to learn and improve, but without you participating in this experience with me, it cannot exist. Shout out to you for reading, this is intimate.
