We had the good fortune of connecting with Raychell Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raychell, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember me as the open heart . I sympathize with single mothers . Especially young single mothers. I’d help any and everything. From human being to an animal. My grandparents raised me, so it made life growing up different for me than it was for my peers . I want people to remember Me for my shoulder than can be leaned on and my ears that listened to their problems , and for Most of all remember me for my strength as a Black Woman.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been braiding hair since I was 8 years old. I started doing my own hair around the age of 10. My granny kept my hair in a bang and 2 pig tails. I was soon about to be a pre-teen it was time for me to do something different. Eventually when I got to middle school I was braiding my own hair. When my classmates and peers found out they were paying me $5 to braid their hair during gym or our down times . Now here it is 24 years later and I’m braiding all types of hair. I specialize in braids because it’s what I’m great in , even though I know how to do more hairstyles then braids . That’s what’s I’m comfortable doing .To be Honest I call myself the faster braids in houston, Why ??? Because I am just that ! I have growing hands , meaning I can help your hair grow ! I can also grip short hair . That’s why I’m the Grip Goddess.


Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Me personally, I like water. Most people who come to visit Houston want to relax and Galveston is a nice relaxing spot. With plenty of attractions. To eat & have a drink i love lost and found. They have the best lamb chops, greens and Mac n cheese

First Giving Honor to God ! Without God, I don’t know where I’d be! None of this would be possible!Gratefully and Humbly I want to thank my Grandparents, Lomie & Wilbur! I love them so much and very much appreciative of them . They’re my EVERYTHING! My mom Jackie is one of my biggest supporters! Rashunda Endsley. My high school dance coach, my mentor and 2nd mother ! Thank you for your encouraging words , your staying tough and firm on me as a young girl helped me become this beautiful Woman. My 3 children …A’nya, Trenton Jr & Trenitee, mommy is most of all highly grateful for you 3! The best thing that I could ever been blessed with . You 3 has taught mommy more than life itself could have.Last but not least , my Husband, my Bestfriend, my backbone , DeMarcus!
