We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Garrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Very good question, I actually didn’t need to think about it at all. Starting a business was something that HAD TO BE DONE in order to stay focused & consistent going down the right direction. My life was taking a wrong turn & I had to find something I loved to do in order to stay on a straight path, you know?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ll love to tell you my story starting with when I first started which was 2016 as well. I grew up playing sports my whole life, every sport you can name, but I was always the kid who couldn’t keep up with school. I had to have a backup plan. So fashion is what stuck to me the most during those times. After school, I use to iron on letters to make graphic tees for my fan base in school, I used to go steal the tees from the dollar store & sell them during tradition periods. Wasn’t the best thing to do but it was something I loved & I wouldn’t change a second if I had to. Doelick was something that me & my close friends will say after we hit a 7 or 11 on the first roll of shooting craps, so I took that & ran with it. Searched up the etymology of 711 & found out that it was Angel numbers, & since shooting craps in school was real risky, I came up with a meaning to start “taking risk while I’m protected by my Arch Angels.” Made it a lifestyle, I made it a entity, something a person can follow & stay faithful to, kinda like a religious practice, using the psychology of colors & words you can spark a nerve in the brains system to influence a human to take a risk or step out on faith & give something you love your all with no detriment if failure appear. Also I love the different fabrics, I love how Hermes will throw away 1,000 pieces of alligator skin just to cut that 1 fine piece of skin to manufacture 1 garment. So my focus with my company/lifestyle is the quality. I’m so in love with making the masses happy by feeding them with the most highest, luxurious pieces of clothing but still keeping it real simple & clean cut. Feed your customers with great things, they’ll feed u something even better. I learned a lot about this industry as well. From prices & employees all the way to conversions & customer service. I’ve learned that you have to keep a positive attitude and stay enthusiastic in every situation no matter who or what’s in your way. I’ve learned to be a leader & a follower. I don’t know everything, but someone around me might have the answers so I can learn from them and educate someone else on different things I’ve learned. I want the world to know that I came from the same place as they did, I came from poverty, I came from a hard, rough life, I came from that pain they feel everyday. I want them to know that they’re me! They can do whatever they want in this life GOD gave us. They just have to take risks & believe/know that they’re watched by a higher frequency that no man or woman can interfere with.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place is the country, you can vibe out & do whatever you want with no bad energy around you. Change your environmental stand point & things will open up for you big time.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother deserves her roses for my success & dedication. My mother started her own business about 6 years ago which was in 2016. I’ve watched her do things with her business that I didn’t even know exists. For example, I’ve seen her get her first LLC, trademarks, copyrights, websites, & also construct a catwalk for her clothing company. The things she would do just hands down steered me to the fashion culture & I thank her for that. Also I would love to involve a book I’ve read by Nepoleon Hill “think rich grow rich.” Which I’ve read in prison, it changed my way of thinking of things severely, it taught me the game of the brain. It taught me a better way of understanding a human being. That book is golden, hands down a masterpiece.
