Meet Becky O’Neal | Fine Artist and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Becky O’Neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Becky, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I love to create and enhance our living spaces where we live, work, and play. Sharing my talent in design and Art builds connectivity with our community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have an extensive background in fine art, photography and design. . Completed works have a range of abstracted realism to surreal subjects that reflect an interest in hue, light, nature, people, landscapes and landscape objects indigenous to the southeast United States. Paintings capture the simple and subtle beauty of texture, light, people and regional natural landscapes juxtaposed against the agricultural landscapes of man…..paint strokes are loose and fluid …. creating spontaneous paintings that capture subjects with hues, interesting abstractions of shadows, reflections and luminous light… my medium of choice is fine artist acrylic on canvas or paper and I enjoy the versatile durability of the medium working in several blending techniques, textured impasto and transparent layer glazes.
As a professional creative for the past 35years, I have gravitated to the fields of art , design and marketing. As well as landscape and interior design to enhance built spaces. Art enhances our spaces and becomes the focal point to bring all together.. I’ve used photography as a tool resource and as a documentation of projects.. I network and make connections which all seem to enhance the process of creating to enhance our lives.
I recently rebranded my online website www..beckyonealstudios.com to make art more accessible to collectors for purchase with shipping. I also joined a Houston gallery in the Silos at Sawyer Yards – Art Machine Gallery ( studio 215
I’ve learn over the years to be open to all opportunities and networking ….and to not necessarily contain your efforts in just any one thing. Develop your skill sets and learn new skills. Use your talents. Let it all flow and build ,so that, the true you beautifully emerges..

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would plan an evening in the heights starting with a walk through shops , dinner /drinks at Torchies and tickets at the heights theatre to see a band.
Sawyer yards and visit the galleries – Art Machine Gallery in the Silos
Science museum – Cockerel butterfly Garden

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe in networking and the mutual support of fellow artists. I joined Art Machine Gallery January 2022.
