Meet Monique Motton | Artist and designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Motton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When I was younger I’ve always known I was gonna be some type of creative either a painter or a fashion designer or an actor I just knew that I was going to create with my mind and my imagination or with my hands I’ve always loved it I’ve always known that. it wasn’t until the pandemic that I realize I actually wanted to pursue a career of being a designer.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Originally Movizion was all about painting I only started painting for myself because I was dealing with heavy depression at the time and I mean to the point that I wanted to not be on the earth anymore and painting gave me a sense of control it made me learn how to be content with work I stand 10 toes behind. Now Movizion has evolved into a clothing brand and with it I learned no one’s has a say so , I can literally do whatever I want to do and also the major lesson I’m learning and still is don’t let everyone know your business because it’s none of their business even close love ones or friends not everyone is gonna see the dream that you see .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not really a going out person I like to stay in the house and watch anime . But on the rare occasion that I do go out I like to go downtown or mid town and ride around soaking up the city and I night if I want to dance I would go to Cru or Blurr .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The one person that’s really showed me I mean there’s many people but the absolute number one person that showed me that they’re in my corner behind me and holding my hand through this entire journey is my mom my mom has shown me the amount of grace that I can only wish to have in years to come in my life she is a beautiful person inside and out and I’m so happy to be doing this journey with her behind me because I don’t think I’ll be able to do it if she wasn’t there . That woman deserves a Emmy for raising me and my brother so shout out to my mom
