Meet Michael Rojas | Air Conditioning Contractor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Rojas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I believe the best way to explain how my business helps the community is to explain how I decided to became an air conditioning technician. When I was about 14 years old my family and I used to live in Miami, FL, a really hot city. One day, the A/C stopped working properly so we called the landlord who called a contractor as soon as we explained the problem. Just when we thought that everything was going to be fixed that same day, the landlord called to tell us that the contractor was very busy and that he would come as soon as he could. We waited over a week without A/C, we slept with doors and windows open, ceiling fans on and took cold showers at night, it was a really frustrating situation mainly because I had to see my baby sister crying all night long because the heat was unbearable. When the contractor finally came it did not take him more than an hour to fix the problem, apparently the problem was not as big as it was to my family and I for more than a week. It aroused my curiosity, I, at 14 years old, wanted to know what he had done in an hour that restored comfort to my family. From that day I began to be interested in the subject but I didn’t know anyone who could teach me or explain how it worked. Not long after, my dad was on the phone with his aunt who lives in Dallas, TX. I managed to hear that the conversation was about a job offer, to work in air conditioning! I immediately got ready to encourage my father to take that job and told him that I could help him in my free time if necessary, he was surprised that I was so interested. Within weeks we were all moving to Houston, TX where we began to learn and work with my dad’s uncle IN AIR CONDITIONING.

Since then, the part that has interested me the most is to give families the tranquility and comfort they want to have in their homes. The number one priority of my company is efficiency, we try to go to people’s homes as quickly as possible, providing effective solutions so that the discomfort that my family and I experienced does not have to be experienced by more families.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Elite Climate Comfort is a family owned company specialized in air conditioning and heating services. We have been characterized by making close relationships with our clients, treating them with professionalism and really caring about their comfort, our values go beyond economics which differentiate us.

We, as a team, have got to where we are because we understand our mission in society, we focus daily in innovated techniques that would improve the effectiveness of air conditioning system and its lasting. We are constantly updating our knowledge in all aspects, from customer service through technical tasks. I hasn’t been easy at all we haven been through two major problems, first one was gaining the trust of new clients since the majority of them have had at least one bad experience from other contractors, we overcome this one demonstrating them that we have the knowledge and the experience required to give a good service. The second came when my father, my brother and I were not enough to cover the demand for work and we had to start looking for other technicians who could work with us. At that moment we realized that it is really difficult to hire someone and expect them to do the job with the same dedication and respect that you do, we had some bad experiences with some of them, but thanks to that we have also learned to value much more the work of those who put the same dedication and effort into it as we do.

All I would like the world to know is that in Elite Climate Comfort we really care about their comfort, we are committed to giving the best of ourselves in our work so that families enjoy their sacred place, their home, at all times.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In a Sunday I will take my special visit to Three Palms Action Sports park to see the dirtbike races, after that I would take her/him the waterway area to have lunch so she/he can enjoy the buildings and the lights in the trees. In the night I will take her/him to Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown since we like to see old-school movies and there are not those types of cinemas in Colombia, our native country.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my dad, who opened me the door to this job field, who taught me and guided me with respect, firmness, and love and who always, hand in hand with my mom, has taught me that family comes first and deserves all our efforts.
