We had the good fortune of connecting with Abby Reyna and Alex Reyna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abby & Alex, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process behind starting Reign Athletics was to create something more than a gym. We didn’t want to become just another warehouse gym in Houston. We talked about it for years, and decided that it was time to make the dream a reality. We both had stable jobs before opening Reign Athletics, but we did not feel fulfilled.
We always dreamed about creating a gym with an atmosphere that brings together like-minded individuals. We wanted to give people a place with unique equipment, a great vibe, and at the same time build a positive community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Reign Athletics people truly do come first. We welcome feedback from members, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our gym. What sets us apart is that we see our members as part of our family. We truly care for their needs, and want to provide the best experience possible.
At first we had no idea of what we were doing. It was a fast learning experience and thankfully our gym has been growing faster than expected. One exciting thing no one talks about when running a gym is how you see people transform not only physically, but also mentally. Seeing people reach a personal goal, and watching their confidence grow is amazing. It really makes it all worth it!
Besides the awesome equipment and vibe, Reign also offers different types of personal training. We have a strong diverse team of professionals. We have professional bodybuilders, HITT experts, amateur boxers, and more! The options are endless!
We are so thankful for everyone who is part of the Reign Family.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
After a workout at Reign of course; I’d recommend catching a game at Minute Maid! After that going to Rodeo Goat on Dallas St for an awesome burger, and ending the night at Truck Yard with good vibes and good music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We have been very fortunate to have such a great support system behind us. From friends, and family helping us with the renovations of the gym or helping clean, to something as small as sharing a post on instagram. Every person who took the time and effort to help us out in any way meant the world to us. You are who you surround yourself with, and we love to be surrounded by encouraging, supportive people.
