We had the good fortune of connecting with James Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Tacoma Washington, where I was the second oldest of four boys. I was raised in a community of all different cultures, truly from all over the world. Being in this area for 19 years, I learned a lot about how to talk and interact with people. It gave me the liberty to learn cultures and people’s ways of life, especially how they communicate with each other. This helped me when I eventually landed in Texas and decided to become a business owner. I bring those lessons I learned from Washington to all of my business endeavors now.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After being in Austin, TX for 15 years and experiencing highs and lows of starting a company, I received an offer to go to Houston to work at a mega church. This was a great opportunity for me to offer more of my skills, and learn new things as well as discover new potential in myself. I learned more in those five years of working at the church about myself and what I am capable of doing. I have learned to know my value as a creative and understand the importance of work-life balance. Now that I am 3 full years into my full fledged marketing company, I know what it takes to make an impact on the creative community in Houston, TX. We are a space for all people to come in and be creative. We hope people can discover their creative purpose here, and also develop strategies and brands. The possibilities are endless, and we can bring any ideas to life!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot to eat is Grace’s, they have the best soul food!
I would also take someone to The Woodlands because they have beautiful places to eat and enjoy the outdoors
Downtown Houston has many places I enjoy, and everyone has to see the Galleria!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To all the people who have impacted my life in a positive way, from my education to my faith, this goes to you!
