Meet Ambreen Uddin | Interior Designer & Travel Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ambreen Uddin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ambreen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
With a background in Audit and Risk Management, I found myself being constantly consulted on interior design by family, friends, and colleagues. In 2022, Ambreen Uddin Interiors was officially launched as an interior design firm.

What should our readers know about your business?
Storytelling on behalf of my clients while bringing the unexpected in every space is at the forefront of all my design.
Inspired by my global travels and the desire to narrate my clients’ individual stories, I aim to create a curated, multi-layered and stimulating sensory experience that will stand the test of time.
Whether its juxtaposing contemporary with vintage, modern with classic or just providing a solution that is unique in nature, I alway aim for the statement that will set my clients’ spaces apart.
Taking the first step to launch the business was full of doubts. Anxiety took the forefront of every decision. However, after taking the plunge, I was blessed with two projects almost instantaneously. However, I soon realized that to win in this space, I had to juggle both my creative side with the business aspects of the job: adequate pricing structures, accounting, managing supply chain and most importantly marketing. As I navigate this space, I am forever grateful for taking the first step while acknowledging the many others I have yet to take. There is a long path ahead for my firm, however, I am grateful for the direction its going in. The projects completed in my first year of business have been stunning and have led the way to define my long term vision in this space.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is a beautiful and diverse city. From fun casual eateries such as Handam, Papa Rich, or my personal favorite casual sushi spot Oiishi to a more refined dining space like hidden omakase, there are plenty of eating spaces in Houston. We definitely would have to make daily trips to get the best boba at Xing Fu Tang or Luce coffee for some of the best ice lattes in town.
Walking around memorial park is always fun experience and this time of the year gives way to Christmas light watching at the fancy river oaks area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been blessed to be surrounded by amazing friends and family that have always supported my vision in interior design. My sister and husband were instrumental in pushing me to pursue my passion as a full time career. Having my husband’s support and my sister’s encouragement were instrumental in pushing through my doubts and finally launching this business. During my initial launch, I was blessed to have a great friend who not only hired me but was instrumental in making introductions to other tradesmen and potential clients. I will be forever grateful for her support.
Starting a business brings its trial and tribulations, however, having the right people that can support you through these tough times is key to push through the rocky road.
