We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Bethea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process on starting own business : well had been doing these custom like caricature pieces forgoing away Gifts and the reaction from the customers and others was purely amazing.. I had asked God to somehow get me back into Art and this was my prayer answered.. I thought to myself that hey why not make this my own little side business. So I thought about it and did some homework on it and here we are..
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I believe what sets me apart from most caricature artist would be my realism and my attention to detail.. most caricature artist the art will look like the person but yet in a cartoon type of style where as mine looks a lil more realistic with a touch of cartoon. I also try to capture the essence of the person with a creative detail touch on personal interest of the muse. It took me about three years to get where I am today but constantly learning.. I’m learning new was of drawing the person and new ways of coloring.. one of my challenges was scheduling my pieces.. after I promoted my business it took off pretty quick.. I had turn people away because of the demand .. I overcame it by making sure I set a strict schedule on getting my pieces complete.. my brand is original and eclectically different.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That would be very hard for me since I’m unfamiliar with the area because we just moved here to Louisiana.. if I was back in Japan- that would be easy!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to Mr. Alani J the worlds fastest Caricature artist. His work is pretty amazing.
