We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimee Santana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aimee, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My first thought was, “how am I going to do this?” One important question to ask is. Am I going to get sick of my business idea ? Am I going to stick with it? Why do I want to start? But honestly I have really supportive people around me.

People who actually push me to be creative. Which helps a ton. Because some days are hard trying to find a balance doing life and working.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well let’s start by saying my world is surrounded by art. I’m a product of two amazing creative people. Daughter to a photographer and visionary from my father. Daughter to a designer and culinary specialist from my mother. Those are Fancy words to describe my Parents. Other names Superman and wonder women. I started photography because I would see my dad take photos of everything and his travels. Jewelry making because of my love for it, like my mom. I would see her with so many cool earrings . And I always thought . Man, I want to be older to wear those. Along the way I picked graphic design and Cinema photography.

What sets me apart is I put all my love into it. I’m not doing it just to do it. I’m doing it because I actually love creating. I got to where I am because of that. And people see I have a passion for it. And well the art speaks for itself. A lesson I’ve learned throughout the years is, people come and go. The real ones will stay through the toughest time and the days of joy. That being said it hasn’t been easy. But outcome is rewarding. And when things that aren’t meant for you leave. That’s when true happiness begins.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m always down to just explore new places. I’m a mom so kid friendly places are pretty enjoyable. Going to see Montrose graffiti walls is my favorite spot to show people that never been. It’s the heart of Houston and the “be someone” is a staple. Those little things that just make Houston, Houston. And the food !! Torches is my go to for some tacos and just all around good vibes. And food trucks !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God. He gave me this talent I have to share it. My kids. They are the reason I push forward with life. Because their smiles is what makes my world keep spinning. My Parents. For ALWAYS pushing and letting me stay creative. They are a big influence in what I love and create today.
