We had the good fortune of connecting with Jupiter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jupiter, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
For me, being open and willing to learn and grow in my creative processes and in business aspects has probably been the best habit I’ve formed. Being consistent and setting aside time as often as possible to make art has been important as well. Organization is a huge one too!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been shapeshifting, and shifting shapes since I was a child. All forms of creation, birth, deconstruction, death, and every phase between has been a major theme over the course of my life. I strive to accept, honor, and appreciate every stage of metamorphosis. Much like a spiral, I gain a little more knowledge, and progress, with each go around. Shapeshifter Alchemies was born from a lifetime of crafting, a big dream, and a lot of love. I am so blessed and grateful to now be able to share my creations with the world.

My Creations,
Almost every piece of art I create is born anew from something old. A discarded leather scrap, a bone found in the woods, a thrifted blouse from the 1970’s. I am inspired by all things in the current form they hold, and form ideas as to what their next stage might be. Could be. Should be. In this process I learn, grow, and nurture the creation through its next steps. Honoring the death of what it once was, and the rebirth of what is to come. I not only guide these crafts with my hands, my heart and soul do just as much work. Energy cannot be created, nor destroyed. Shifting from one form to another is the natural progression of all things. Sometimes, they just need a little help. Upcycling and re-creating is a beautiful way to encourage this cycle. I do incorporate some ‘new’ components, however, as we all must from time to time.

My Wish…
When you think about it, shapeshifting is a recurring process that is prominent and inevitable in every facet of life. I hope that my art can help you on your own journey through transformation. Your shifting of shapes; mind, body, and soul. A piece to honor an ending, a piece to remember. A piece to herald a new beginning. A piece to remind you of where you’ve been, how much you’ve learned, how far you’ve come, and where you wish to be. Transformation can be a painful process at times. Shedding old skins, baring the raw vulnerable newness. It’s never easy. In times of a Great Shift, or a Phoenix Transition as I like to call them, I remind myself that the only constant in life, is change itself. The dark can never linger too long, because it too, must eventually come to light. Thank you for your time, your energy, and your support. See you on the other side.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be totally honest, I’m not much of a go out and do things type of person. Very much more a hermit of sorts. If the wilderness were closer, that’s where I’d spend my time! I also homeschool my two kids so I’m very busy. However, I did go to a sushi place that was pretty awesome awhile back called Rock n’ Roll in Spring. . I do love Acadia for drinks and live music. If the timing is right, could also hit the Obscure Oddities market at Numbers, or the Macabre Market at Equal Parts.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I’d have to thank my family and friends. I’ve had so much support and encouragement from everyone, I never would have been able to do it without them. I love each and every one of you!!!
I’d like to thank my vendor fam and event coordinators, so many strong women who have held me up along the way, swapped tricks of the trade with me, and let me know where the action is. My followers For reposting and sharing my content, recommending me to their own customers/friends, and sending people my direction at events.
My husband for always encouraging and supporting my creativity and creative endeavors, being an inspiration, and helping with events. For being my packhorse, chauffeur, and inventing all kinds of amazing things to make market life more efficient. And for the back massages after a market, of course! 😍
My boys for being such good little helpers, motivators, and inspirations. From helping setup the canopy, to working on display setups, giving ideas, and being the little goblins under my tables, they always bring so much light to everything I do. I’m so proud to be raising them in such a creative, and entrepreneurial environment.
My tribefam, who always love, support, and encourage me, who decorate their homes (cars, and bodies!) with my artwork, and make a point to come out to help, and hang, at my markets and events. It means the world to me.

I suppose I should also thank myself. Having social anxiety, I never thought it would be possible for me to work comfortably in such a public and fast paced type of setting. I’ve worked so hard in every way to be able to do this, and I’ve grown so much.
