We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Holmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting PrayerBox4U was really to impact the lives of others. We believe Jesus was the intersection between Heaven and Earth. At PrayerBox4U, we want to mimic that intersection by taking tangible everyday items and pair that with planting the seed of Faith. PrayerBox4U was actually created for those who do not know Jesus- the next time you are giving a gift to someone, why not make it something that has a meaning AND the potential to change the trajectory of someone’s life?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Prior to creating PrayerBox4U, I spent twenty years in the Automotive Industry. I worked as a dealer operator, at Franchise Dealerships, like Honda in addition to working in the auto finance industry. Long hours, working months at a time straight with no day off, and constantly learning is what prepared me to launch PrayerBox4U. Getting to the place I am today was not easy. It takes grit and perseverance to get where I have, but with that said, if you have faith, I believe you can achieve what you want. It is really a matter of what are you willing to give up to get it. The biggest life lesson I have learned is that money does not mean success. I spent most of my life working and away from my husband and children because I thought that is what I had to do. While I do believe in working hard, making a ton of money at the expense of time- especially time with your family, just isn’t worth it.
Finally, what I would like the world to know about our brand at PrayerBox4u, is you can impact someone’s life in the simplest ways. PrayerBox4U is a wonderful way, for example, to tell someone who has experienced a loss that you love them and are thinking about them, with the Grief Box. We have something for everyone, so don’t be afraid to plant the seed of faith.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many placed! That is one great thing about Houston. We would have to hit First Watch for some awesome breakfast and those mimosas of course! And we for sure have to go to Gringos. I know they are all over Houston, but they aren’t in Cali! The zoo is next up along with a day at Herman Park. We would head over to Magnolia, Texas to visit HeBrews Coffee House for some lunch and spend some time checking out the trees. I don’t think anyone can ever get used to the beautiful trees. For an evening dinner, we’d check out La Centerra Shops for some outdoor shopping and fun. The Holocaust Museum would be up on the list as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First things first, God. All the Glory to Him. Second, my, husband, Will Holmes. And finally, Ashley Esparza. We met Ashley at HTX Homes a few months after we came to Texas. In conversations we had I let her know about what we were doing with the creation of PrayerBox4u. Ashely has been so encouraging and uplifting during this crazy rollercoaster ride. Her confidence in what we aspired to do never wavered. Ashely supported us so much that she partnered with PrayerBox4U to create customer gifts boxes for her clients. It has been truly amazing to have a friend like Ahsley and the entire Esparza family.
