We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Lowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My perspective on work-life balance has evolved significantly over time. I used to believe that achieving balance required intense hustle, working 100 hours a week to avoid working 40 for someone else. Even on vacations, I found it hard to disconnect from work. However, this year, I’ve come to realize that true balance is less about relentless effort and more about aligning with the vision I have for myself. It’s about frequency, faith, and mindset—believing that what I attract is a reflection of my alignment with my goals and God’s word. I’ve learned that it’s not just about hustle, but about being in harmony with what I want to achieve and trusting that God will meet me at my level of expectation.

My journey as a professional comedian has been anything but easy, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. I’m proud to be celebrating 14 years in comedy this October. I started before the MeToo movement, during a time when sexism, racism, and chauvinism were rampant in the industry. I’ve had to navigate through these challenges, and it’s made me stronger and more resilient.
My first time on stage was at an open mic, where I didn’t even give my real name—just my brand, “The Matchmaker.” To my surprise, I did so well that my second time performing was at the IMPROV, an A-level club where celebrities perform when they come to town. I was so nervous that I literally fell face-first on stage, completely sober! But instead of panicking, I just pushed myself up and joked, “I guess that drink was too strong.” That moment taught me the value of improvisation and turning any situation into a laugh.
Over the years, I’ve learned that comedy is not just about telling jokes—it’s about connecting with people, being authentic, and turning life’s challenges into something that can uplift others. Now, I’m taking my comedy to a new level by focusing on suicide prevention. I’m conducting workshops and conventions to help entrepreneurs who are struggling with mental health challenges. After losing my sister to suicide three years ago, this mission has become deeply personal to me. I want to show people how comedy can be a powerful coping mechanism to navigate through depression, alcoholism, drugs, and the many pitfalls that life can throw our way.
What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that it’s not just about making people laugh—it’s about making a difference. I’m here to inspire others, break down barriers, and use my platform to create positive change.
