We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrei Restrepo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrei, can you talk us a bit about why you love what you do?
I didn’t always know what I wanted to do. I didn’t get into photography until just 5 or 6 years ago. Leaving the music scene in 2013, I began to pick up a camera and never put one down. I’m a big advocate on you need to do what you love, not just work for a living. My parents always supported me from day 1, on matter what I wanted to do. I love that that photography is an escape for me. I get lost in my passion and nothing else matters except the shot I’m trying to get. If you truly do what you love, money will follow. You just have to work hard!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a photographer and video creator based in Richmond, TX. I’m definitely most proud of how far I’ve come doing what I do. Never thought I’d be able to make a good living from taking pictures and making videos. It was far from easy. I think what really helped me get going was the fact that I never thought about making a living from it. All I simply wanted to do was go out and shoot everyday and eventually work came to me. I’ve learned most that hard work eventually pays off. You may not see it at first but I did photography for 2-3 years before ever making a buck off of it. Simply because I didn’t care to, I was just wanting to get better at my passion. I’m super passionate about what I do, I’m not doing it to make a lot of money, otherwise I would’ve been an engineer or something,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s funny as much as I’m out shooting and making videos, I’m definitely a home body most of the time. However, I do have some favorite spots! I really like going down to the Comedy Club in Houston to get a good laugh. Also, probably eat at Cheesecake Factory, love the food there!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my wife. We’ve been together for 8 years now and got married last year. She’s always supported me in my journey. Next to her, my parents! Like I mentioned they always supported and pushed me to do what I love.
