We had the good fortune of connecting with Anel Abdulovic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The fear within myself, the fears of what if. I had a nice plan, a unique product, the finances but the inner fear was what kept me from taking that next step.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well my career as a restaurant owner started nine years ago as I opened my first Cafe Adel with the idea of bringing Houston the Flavors of the Balkans.

It was hard, educating the general American crowed of what our cuisine is and why to try it. Training the staff and dealing with everyday challenges as a small business owner.
It was a learning experience everyday which has made me stronger as both a person and business owner.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Heights, love the uniqueness of this area of Houston. The variety , the small restaurants, shops, coffee shops, bars and markets.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother first of all, who is behind me day in day out working and supporting. Second my wife who is my biggest encouragement, and all the rest of my family.

Last Shoutout goes out to Ned Dozlic, he joined me as my business partner recently and is making us stronger as a business.
