We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In high school, I started to grow the hobby for looking at houses and realizing that each house was unique in its own way. In my free time I would spend so much time searching Zillow and looking at all types of housing. IE condos, apartments, and of course single family. I was always the friend that wanted to know what peoples houses looked like on the inside. I always knew I wanted my own business but didn’t know how to go about it. I got into the Real Estate industry working reception for Keller Williams in 2017 and from there my interest grew even more. I got licensed in 2019 and and here I am today!
What should our readers know about your business?
I am most proud of my 2022 accomplishments thus far. Business has been flowing in the way I’ve wanted since starting. I am excited for all of Houston to get to know me and to have a chance to earn their business in assisting in whatever way I can!
I cater to all walks of life. Even if you are not in the position to buy and just need a rental for the time being or if you need to sell your house ASAP, I work with all situations.
Starting out was extremely challenging for me. Like others, I struggled to find my place and figure out what were the next steps once I was actually licensed. So many brokers and teams will try to pull you their way when you are new but at the time I wanted to focus on growing my brand own my own so I turned down just about all offers that were thrown my way. In turn, I did struggle getting business, but I knew it was apart of God’s plan. Having a team is great and provides you with leads almost instantly don’t get me wrong, but it just wasn’t for me.
Coming up with a marketing plan, a marketing budget, and a system that works was key for me, and of course the FOLLOW UP. You might get ignored but people will always remember someone who stays in touch!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite Houston spots are Mikkis Cafe. If you love soul food this is the place to be. If you love barbecue, Killen’s Barbecue is your place! Kemah Boardwalk and the downtown aquarium are some of my favorite attractions, along with Galveston beach. If you like to be by water and beach activities you will really enjoy Houston and the Pier!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A BIG shoutout goes to my family! My son is what motivated me to start my journey so early on. I wanted to be able to leave him something big one day. My fiancé is who pushed me to keep going and never give up. There were so many times I felt stagnant and just wanted to quit, but he would never let me. He encouraged me to find new methods, make new contacts, and get myself out there! He is always open to help me brainstorm and come up with new ideas. No matter the situation.
My brokerage, Fathom Realty, is also one of the best! They provided me with the tools and learning materials I needed to get myself going and keep myself going. Everyone is super responsive and the culture is amazing!
