We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Spiller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
One of the most important  decisions I made was giving myself permission to fail forward. . What that means is I allowed myself to learn from my mistakes and use them as opportunities for growth and development for my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others? Please tell us more about your business.
As far as my businesses are concerned, I currently invest in the beauty and aesthetics industry as well in real estate. When it comes to beauty and wellness, I own Slim RU Wellness and Aesthetics where we specialize in medically supervised weight loss, non-invasive aesthetics and post operative care. This was definitely my first baby and I take pride in giving the best service to each and every one of our clients that walked through our doors. Right next to Slim R U Wellness and Aesthetics I recently opened up Suitelife Studios which is a 13-suite salon park where I’m able to provide independent stylist and beauty professionals with an upscale environment to meet their client’s needs. I was inspired to do this because during the height of Covid so many beauty professionals weren’t able to keep the doors open when the world shut down. I saw the need that they were looking for salon suites that were upscale and affordable with a community feel.

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
When it comes to the question of was it easy getting to where I am today the answer to that is absolutely not. One of my mentors has always said that you make a change out of desperation or out of inspiration and for me the last 365 days was definitely out of the desperate need to be able to provide for my daughter as a newly single mom. That’s actually how I got into Mobile Home investing. I never was one to have hobbies outside of Soulcycle. I don’t really watch TV I don’t paint and I’m not in love with yoga or anything like that but the idea of actually taking a mobile apart and putting it back together was something that Fascinated me. Not to mention being able to make a nice size profit was definitely appealing to me and it has been very lucrative when it comes to an additional stream of income. My other Real estate investment consist of owner finance properties and long-term rentals.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Now finding and fixing my first mobile home was definitely no walk in the park there were a lot of lessons learned and because of that I started to become a mobile home investor coach for other individuals looking to get into Mobile Home investing as a way to help shorten their learning curve. Once a quarter I take the opportunity to mentor four individuals under my wing and actually walk them through Mobile Home investing in wholesaling / fix and flipping so that they’re able to build generational wealth for their families as I’m doing right now.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
One of the things that I would say I definitely want the world to know about me and my story Is that life will throw you a curveball that you never saw coming but it’s up to you to be prepared and be persistent in your goals and know the vision that you have planned for yourself in order to successful!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to take my friends is Thirteen on Baby by James Harden. I love the atmosphere; the food is amazing, and it is always a good time. I would take a friend visiting for the first time to Bisou, it is just incredibly fabulous and I love the DJ on Sundays.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To my mentors Andrel Harris and Sis Shaneka, when I met these ladies they opened my eyes to an array of real estate opportunities, and I could not be more thankful for them. Through their constant mentorship my real estate business is ever-growing.
