We had the good fortune of connecting with Belinda Longoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Belinda, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important success factor behind my business is customer service. Listening to my customers, investing time in the process from ordering to delivering my final product to them has to be 100% attention to detail in providing great customer service. I to like to support businesses and as a customer I look for great customer service provided to me. I will highly continue to support others when they respect me as a person. So, in turn I want that same support from my customers and if I treat them well, value them, honor their time, then my business will continue to grow successfully and my brand will be a success. After all, I follow the golden rule “treat others how you would like to be treated” this holds truth and value.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Royal iced sugar cookies, is what my business is all about. Flavors such as blueberry lemon, chocolate brownie and confetti flavor set me apart for others. I started making cookies in 2011 and took a long break from the cookie world and devoted that time to my career and family. I reopened B’s Cookie Chateau in 2019 and I have been baking and decorating custom cookies since then. I am most proud of the growth my brand has made, especially during the 2020 Covid. It wasn’t easy marketing my brand during that time, but my business did better due to private orders. I found ways to market online and social media. I learned how to market and promote my business, which was not easy when you don’t have the knowledge for it. I want the world to know that you can follow your dreams, whether you pursued another career, took a break, or had other priorities/opportunities at a certain time, don’t ever give up. Each cookie set tells it’s own story. I love what I do especially that I can be apart my customers story and life event.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston/Katy area has many places I could take my friend to, but I will list some of my favorite spots. I would take my friend to Niko Nikos which is a local Greek Restaurant, they have delicious gyros and I would recommend feta fries. Taqueria Los de Jalisco has the best tacos, gorditas, tortas, and the infamous birria tacos. Pokii Eatery has the most the delicious Hawaiian BBQ plates (these bowls are freshly prepared right in front of you.. For breakfast one must stop at Jersey Bagels, they have freshly made bagels and a variety of cream cheese. My favorite bagel to order, the fruity pebbles with strawberry cream cheese. Places I like to visit and take the family are the local farmer’s markets. There are many farmer’s markets in the surrounding area. So you won’t miss out. For desserts, I have one special person/place that I like to order from and they deliver. right to my door, Alicia’s Sweet Obsession has the most amazing desserts, including gourmet cookies, Bundt cakes, cinnamon rolls, doughnuts and pudding jars, the Banana Foster Sweet Jar is my favorite. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my husband Orlando Longoria. He has been my backbone and supporter throughout this amazing journey. He especially shows more support when I have large cookies orders or difficult decisions to make. Over tim, he has learned to make the cookie dough, assist in packaging my orders, has been my test taster and takes on my coffee runs (for those late nights). He is my biggest supporter and critic. He is always encouraging me to become a better person and entrepreneur. I truly can’t thank him enough for being there for me and encouraging me to follow not one but all my dreams.
