We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenda James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brenda, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?

Both Brenda James & Company, LLC and Network in Action/NIA North are focused on helping business owners and leaders, not only grow personally and professionally, but also grow and strengthen their businesses. Strong, thriving businesses definitely help the community!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I was in the staffing industry for most of my adult life, running a small boutique firm. When I realized there was no more room for growth there I purchased a franchise, Network in Action/NIA North, and also started coaching business owners, leaders, teams, and individuals through Brenda James & Company, LLC.

One of my favorite things to do is building, developing, and leading teams. I love watching people move out of their comfort zones and create the success they desire by aligning passion, purpose, and possibilities.  It’s fun and rewarding when they realize how much more they can achieve in their business, their career, and their life.  I meet my clients where they are, and I customize coaching and consulting programs that best fit their needs through Brenda James & Company, LLC.

I’ve also always been a connector and believe we are hardwired for relationships, so Network in Action/NIA North fit into my wheelhouse, allowing me to help business owners, leaders and decision-makers grow themselves, their business, and their relationships by connecting to what I call PROP, People, Resources, Opportunities, and Possibilities.  Through monthly meetings, masterminds, group, and some individual coaching, I help my members grow personally and professionally and build strong relationships that grow and support their business. The model was face-to-face, so starting on Zoom during COVID was definitely a challenge. The franchise, however, gave me the relationships, support, and the tools I needed to succeed.

There have been and still are challenges, but with each mistake and setback, I learn, grow, and get stronger.

Everyone wants to be the best version of themselves they can be, and that they want to leave a strong legacy for their business and their family. But often, we don’t know what we don’t know. That’s where coaching and consulting can help. Change is not always easy, but it is necessary to grow.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I love supporting locals and showing off things close to home. I would start with one of my favorites, Old Town Spring, for a day of shopping and eating. Prohibition Texas and Thad’s are two of my favorites. I recently found Gadela’s Winery in the Woodlands and would definitely stop there to visit Franco and Brenda Knoepffler for wine tasting and pizza. The Kerubim is my favorite!

We would visit the Museum of Fine Arts, the Holocaust Museum, and Hermann Park.

Next, would have to be Galveston for shopping on the Strand, Pier 21, dinner at Gaido’s, and The Historic Homes Tour.

Since we have a week, we would take a trip to the Hill Country for shopping, eating and wine tasting ending up at the Salt Lick in Dripping Springs for BBQ. Heading up 290, we would definitely stop at Buc-ee’s on the way!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

First and foremost, I thank God who makes all things possible. I’m so thankful for the many people who support and challenge me to be my best. I wish I could mention them all.  Since I can’t I’ll pick the people I talk to every day.  I definitely thank my sisters, Diana and Barbara and my friends, Alicia and Julie who always listen and support me, my best brainstorming partner and friend, Katrina Keys, President of C and D HR Consulting and my friend and supporter, Suzan Deison, Founder and CEO of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. I’m blessed and thankful to have these amazing women in my life.
