We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Taylor And The High Society and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian Taylor, what do you attribute your success to?
The people that I’ve surrounded myself with have definitely had a huge factor in the growth of our fan base! My bandmates have a ton of experience so I learn a bunch from them every time we play a show and jam together!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a Southern Rock Band! We play the music that we enjoy with influences from Whiskey Myers, Zane Williams, Blackberry Smoke, and Stevie Ray Vaughan to say a few. We have a handful of original songs with the band, and play some make sure to Threadbare Jester tunes every show, as Johnny and Kevin are a part of that band as well!
To get where we are at today took a bunch of persistence and hope. Reaching out booking gigs has took up a bunch of our and we greatly appreciate each and every opportunity to play a show that we’ve been presented with along the way.
Playing in a band is a huge investment as well as a risk. Sometimes it’s not easy hitting the road for a few hours after a long week of work, but we do it because it’s a passion of ours and love sharing our sound with those that will listen.
If you have the chance to make a show of ours we can guarantee you’ll have a good time. We’re blessed to have a bunch of fun on stage, and bring that energy every show.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of our favorite places are definitely as follows!
Shady Acres Saloon in the Heights for sure. Live music there many nights a week, great atmosphere and people.
Spindletap Brewery! Amazing beer and food, as well as a ton of space to get people together!
The Barn at the Frio is another place to go for great music and the atmosphere!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Sylvia Benavidez! @houstonbeermaiden for sure! When I started off playing acoustic sets last year she got me a gig at Saloon Door West when they first opened. Unknowingly to me, there were many owners of other breweries there that night and many friendships and connections were made! That single opportunity opened the door to so many for gigs!
