We had the good fortune of connecting with Darrance Tezino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darrance, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Growth is impossible without some level of risk. Any time I have advanced, I’ve had to put myself out there and risk being told no, losing money or both. Timing is important, but it will never be perfect. The key is to calculate the risk, weigh the best and worst outcome, apply as much practicality as possible and then trust that your experience is leading the decisions. You’ll land on your feet.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are focused on helping businesses sustain their broad technology needs through the current operational challenges caused by COVID-19 social distance requirements.
MCA Communications, a technology integration company that specialize in how organizations communicate and stay connected, has a full line up of skilled technicians ready to help companies safely continue business through COVID-19 by offering technical support, training and preventative maintenance for technology assets and equipment.
MCA fosters the most agile environment and staff by remaining open to innovation, new products and fresh ways to keep our customers connected, safe and supported. I’ve learned how to remain nimble and ready to pivot, not only through this pandemic but through constant changes with the needs of our customers to stay current and successful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The new restrictions and stay home orders may affect the following recommendations, but Houston visitors should never leave the city without hitting up the following spots: a nice long walk at Memorial Park to gain an appetite for the best falafel scramble breakfast plate at Barnaby’s Cafe. After breakfast, take a stroll around the thrift shops near Montrose and Westheimer, grabbing a few antique pieces/bargain gems. Grab a cold, mint coffee from Boomtown Coffee downtown and walk around to take in the historic views. The last must have in my eyes is a frozen margarita from El Tiempo paired with their crab nachos.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife, Lacey Tezino, is my biggest source of inspiration, encouragement and support. It helps that we are both in the tech world, so bouncing off ideas about our careers is not foreign chat, but relatable dialogue that helps us both. Lacey has supported my corporate grind, entrepreneurial goals and all of my current business targets with each customer, each contract and each day.
