We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My paternal grandmother used to tell me how I would sit in the living room with my feet crossed reading the newspaper. I was about 4 or 5 and would make up my own stories while looking at the comics (because I couldn’t truly read yet). From a young age I’ve always been creative and loved making things better. As I got older, I fell in love with books and all things beauty. I learned how to do my own hair by 11 and was writing music by age 14. Becoming an Esthetician allows me to be creative in my appointment protocols and how I help others reach their beauty goals.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of my resilience when it comes to my art. In 2019, I was a college drop out with low funds and no skills. I hated waking up and going to my full time job at the time so I made a plan to change my life. It started with learning something and putting all my attention to it. That skill was lash extension application. I learned from Youtube and master classes hosted by industry leaders. It was challenging because I was trying to survive while building from scratch. I had no money to buy supplies or invest in an in person class. I overcame this challenge by putting in 10x more work than what was required of me. Starting my business from scratch taught me that whatever you put your mind to, you can absolutely do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my Shoutout to my wonderful husband Wesley Williams. Through all my crazy design and business ideas, he has assisted me in bringing them to life. On the days I want to throw in the towel, he reminds me of what I’m capable of and how far I’ve gotten.
