We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Forrest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ , is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My company spreads positive energy and a temporary distraction from normal every day living. When we are able to impact a special wedding day, a huge corporate event, or a private party, there is an unmatched sense of joy and pride when accomplished!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have an intuitive ability to know what a crowd needs at a given moment and my goal is to create an artistic masterpiece that all ties together. When the right song is needed, the hairs on my arm stand up and that’s when I know it’s the perfect song selection. The toughest part of being in the business is the tendency to play what you want, when in reality the crowd should dictate all songs selections.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Certainly Midtown in Houston for a nightcap! I love to visit the scene and scope out the local DJ talent in the area. It’s always a good time to meet fun people out to truly just have a great time and listen to great music and dance the night away.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I credit the early mentorship from other local Djs to springboard my career in the early days. By training with the best at the time, I was able to learn some key tricks of the trade and gain key experience I still use even today. It takes many years to develop in this business and without the support of others, it would have been a much more bumpy road.
