We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominique, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would definitely have to say the art of staying in your own lane. By doing so, I’ve been able to grow rapidly at an unexpected rate! I picked my niche, focused in on it, perfected it, and then narrowed it down even more. The quickest way to grow is to do what you know. If you try the whole comparison thing and start doing what others do because you’re starting to feel like you’re behind, you’ll end up behind. Instead, embrace originality & vulnerability. Remain steadfast and really zone in. When you swerve into different lanes that do not belong to you, you’ll crash.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Creative Parlor Co. was founded March 2021. It’s a Creative Marketing Agency specializing in beauty & wellness brands. We take an artsy approach on things, primarily dedicated to my love for Contemporary Art. I started this company because I was passionate about helping Luxury Salon+Spa owners bring their vision to life. I also love helping luxury cosmetic brands generate revenue online. What sets me apart from the rest is the fact that I solely focus on luxury brands in one single industry. With over 10 years of experience in this particular field, I’ve been able to master almost every aspect of it. From a hairstylist to a regional director of several spas, I’ve learned what it takes to have a successful beauty brand. I struggled with launching this company because of fear but I kept getting these signs that felt like a push towards my purpose in life. I finally overcame that struggle and just took a huge leap of faith and from then I felt like everything just kept aligning. It was scary at first because everything was happening so fast. I love my company so much and I truly love what I do! It holds a big space in my heart and it’s the most important element in my life right now and I am so darn proud of myself. It’s not easy and it isn’t always glamorous. Somedays I struggle to find motivation to keep going, but my love for my brand defeats that lack of motivation. That’s the drive I’ve always desired. That’s when I knew that this was my purpose for sure!
Since launching The Creative Parlor Co. I’ve made transparency, vulnerability and originality the footing of this company. I’ve learned that connecting with your audience in the most rarest, most raw form possible is what the media needs more of. What I want everyone reading this to know, is to just go for it. If you keep feeling this tug on your heart, just try it. I sometimes look back on where I started and I can’t believe it hasn’t even been a full year yet and my brand is already expanding! When its for you, it will happen. Just stay in your lane and focus.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first take my friend to my FAVORITE restaurant, MI Rancho in Humble, Texas. That place has the best margaritas I have ever tasted! From then we would go to my favorite shoe boutiques in the city. A few must visit food places: Gus’s Fried Chicken, Bloom&Bee, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Grace’s for Brunch, Bisou, Bosscat Kitchen. Fun places: Cidercade, Spotlight Karaoke, ELLEE Salon+Spa, Brass Tacks Coffee Bar, Holman Draft Hall, Houston Museum for Contemporary Arts, Houston Fine Arts Museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
