We had the good fortune of connecting with Doray Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Doray, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Love and passion for my profession. If you are not passionate about what you do, you cannot have the success you expect.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I imagine that the constancy, in addition to having the same line of production of shows, where we show the public both famous artists and new musicians. We have a Venezuelan and Latin alternative music platform and we show the beauty of our culture through music. The road traveled was not always easy, especially in my country, where there are also many economic, social and political difficulties. but in the end, people will always want to entertain themselves with good music. Here despite the fact that the people are very warm, it was hard at first to publicize my work, almost that I had to go door to door with the Latin people who live here and show them the potential of this producer, but little by little, the People started attending the concerts and now we are very well established in this beautiful city, and I have been able to open new production companies for Guataca in other cities in this country. Lesson learned? follow your dreams, trust your intuition and ability, and be optimistic. I want the world to know that we are music, art and culture. and that there is nothing more beautiful than making people happy through what we do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friends to visit Downtwon Houston, see the painted murals in some important streets, without a doubt we would visit the museums and definitely the different restaurants in the city, the gastronomy in Houston is as diverse and good as its people. The concerts are part of this multicultural city, so we would go to any Latin, rock, jazz, country or classical music concert.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I must thank the Guataca Nights Foundation. Ernesto Rangel, its founder, was the person who contacted me upon learning that he was living in Houston and knowing my career in Venezuela, he wanted me to do the same in Houston, since at that time, Guataca only worked in Miami and New York. After founding Guataca Houston and thanks to his support, I founded the cities of Orlando, Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boca Raton in The United States and Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic.
