We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Davila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The main focus of MamiThinks.com is to be a realistic and transparent blog- a little corner on the web where you can come hang out, relax, and grab a couple ideas. A judgement-free site you can visit and leave feeling inspired, supported, and armed with a ready-to-use game plan. Whether you are looking to start your own craft business, want a diy idea for your toddlers, or you need some self-care tips, we got you covered!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
MamiThinks.com is a blog focused on supporting and empowering women. Being authentic and realistic is what sets our site apart as we welcome all women from different walks of life and share useful ready-to-implement strategies. When we come together to share and help other women, we all rise. Depending on what stage in life you’re in, it can sometimes get very lonely. I felt the most loneliest when I became a mother. Post-partum life and breastfeeding was a huge struggle that at times made me feel helpless. I did not want other women to feel the same so that is one of the main reasons why I started MamiThinks.com to help others feel seen and know that their feelings are valid & they are not alone. Another main component of our site is where I share about my crafting entrepreneurial journey. When I first left my job as an elementary school teacher to be at home with my baby, I knew I still wanted an income of my own. I’ve always enjoyed crafting so being able to make money off of selling my creations without having to leave my little ones was a match made in heaven! When the pandemic hit, I saw close friends struggling to make ends meet. That is when I got the idea to create a course that helps you start your own craft business. My gift shop Gifts by Lizzy had given me a flexible income and I wanted to teach others how to do the same. I was blown away when my beta testers started having amazing results after following my course. It is an amazing feeling to know that you have helped someone have financial flexibility all while doing something they love like crafting! Things have not always ran smoothly. I do not have a mentor or an immediate example to go off of when it comes to running a blog or a gift shop. A lot of things are still new and difficult to me and at times I have wanted to throw in the towel, but I persist because I remember my Why. If sharing my journey can help just one woman out there, I will continue to share and persist.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is amazing when it comes to diversity! There is something for everyone. Some of my fave spots are: -Eleanor Tinsley Park -Museum District -Houston Zoo -Downtown Aquarium -Restaurants all across the city

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has always played a huge role in helping me become who I am today. They have been there all along to catch me when I fall, help brush me off, and push me to reach new goals. Specially with this pandemic, my family’s unconditional love has given me the strength to really become the best version of myself and in turn, help those around me.
