Meet Erin Reed | Resume Writer & Career Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I used to be the queen of playing it safe – sticking to what I knew, staying comfortably within the lines, and doing everything in my power to avoid uncertainty. To me, risk was synonymous with chaos, and I liked things neat and predictable. That all changed after a sudden life change redefined my sense of normal. When every part of your life is forced to shift – your family, home, your identity, your future plans – you realize just how resilient you are. Suddenly, the fear of taking a risk is no match for the strength you gain from rebuilding. I discovered that even if things don’t turn out exactly how you imagined, you’ll land on your feet – sometimes in a better spot than you ever anticipated. Now, my approach to risk is a blend of strategy and boldness. I take calculated risks in business, but I also allow room for the kind that make your heart race a little – the “shoot your shot and see what happens” kind. Entrepreneurship demands it. And truthfully, so does life. I’ve learned that real growth begins the moment you step beyond what’s familiar. And once you’ve done that, there’s really no going back.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is all about meeting job seekers where they are – whether they’re feeling stuck, frustrated with the job search, or just unsure of their next step. I help them cut through the noise of rejection, pinpoint what’s not working in their job search, and rebuild stronger resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and strategies. What sets me apart is that I’ve walked in their shoes. I’ve worked in multiple industries and job functions. I’ve been laid off. I’ve had to pivot – more than once. That lived experience allows me to connect with my clients on a real level, not just as a coach, but as someone who truly gets it. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m doing all of this – running a business, working full time, raising 2 teenagers, caring for my mother – as a single mom. My life is far from easy, but by the grace and provision of God, I’ve found a peace that carries me through it all. The biggest lesson I’ve learned? Surrender. I’ve had to let go of the need to control everything and trust that what’s meant for me won’t miss me. I no longer hold on tightly to things or people that exit out of my life – I release, I grow, and I keep going. At the heart of my brand is transformation. I want people to know that no matter what you’ve faced, you have the power to rise – like a phoenix from the ashes – and write a new chapter. I just help you find the pen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh, I have a few people to thank – and they played a very different, but powerful role in pushing me forward. First, a coworker, planted the seed. She casually suggested one day that I look into getting a resume writing certification – and that one nudge turned into an entire business and new chapter in my career. Sometimes it takes just one person seeing something in you that you hadn’t yet named for yourself. Then there’s two church friends – my sisters in Christ and accountability partners in every sense of the word. One of whom was a prison chaplain at the time, pulled me out of my “woe is me” fog by inviting me to speak to the young men in her unit about resumes and their careers after release. What she didn’t know was that the day of that workshop happened to be the last wedding anniversary I’d ever have. What was the end of something that I thought meant the most to me, actually was the beginning of a calling – though I couldn’t see it then, God absolutely could. He had a different and better plan for me. And the other one? Let’s just say she doesn’t do “coddling”. Over lunch one day she looked me straight in the eye and said, “You’re being lazy – update your business cards.” It stung a little, but it was said in love and exactly what I needed to hear. That moment lit a fire in me that hasn’t burned out since. Each of these ladies, and many other close friends and family showed up for me in their own way – with faith, truth, and tough love – and I’m beyond grateful for it.
