We had the good fortune of connecting with Esmar Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Esmar, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want to show everyone all the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, physical activities, and get as many people as possible to fall in love with being healthy. I want to be the go-to person for their healthy living questions and I want to be remembered as the one who helps people reach a better version of each one. I want to be the one who encourages each one to raise the bar, eat healthier everyday and get closer to their goals, Any goals they have in life. Sometimes we lose motivation, we lose focus, life can get pretty tough and uncomfortable, I want to be the person who helps you and remind you why you started and why it is important to keep going!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fitness and helping people have been in my mind and heart since I was very young. I got a Lawyer degree in Venezuela with the idea of helping people as much as possible with their legal needs. Having access to legal help in Venezuela is not easy. This is how I was able to work in labor law and support many workers who had difficulties over their relationships with their employers. My husband and I moved to Canada in 2007, and I wasn’t able to use my Law Diploma. So I decided to get certified in Fitness nutrition and paralegal. This is how I got to help many friends and family with their eating habits and simultaneously work in a family law firm. Helping people was becoming more and more a reality! I found so many ways to do it and was so filling!
Once we moved to the US, I found inspiration in Michelle’s and Sasha’s trajectories. I made the decision to grow my area of influence so I could have a business that is focused on helping people in being healthier, both through their nutrition habits and their physical activity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visiting Houston is one of the most exciting experiences ever! Business is awesome and there’s so much more to do during your free time! Let’s start with my favorite… exercising! You should go to Memorial Park and do some jogging time. The scenery and ambient are unreal! If you feel like you still have the energy to keep going, jump into the pathways along the Buffalo Bayou. I love it! Maybe rent a bicycle and try to ride it all the way to George Bush Park. Next, some culinary experiences: Go to Mastranto’s, in The Heights. This is our friends Mary and Xavier Godoy’s restaurant. They always have something to amaze your palate, and the best of all is they incorporated our Venezuelan taste into many of their options on the menu.
Feel like taking a break, sitting for some wine and music? Sambuca in downtown Houston has the best live music (80’s, Latin, jazz… and keep counting!). If you want to have a good dancing time of salsa and Latin music, Gloria’s is the best ambiance and top live Latin music. Can’t stop having fun in this one!
Then, please make sure to save some time for Nasa and later go have a relaxing breeze of our Bay at Kemah. Make sure you plan a full day and bring your comfortable walking shoes. This will also add up to your physical activity 😉
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Following the lead of impactful women who help many people in building healthy lifestyles. Especially Sasha Fitness and Michelle Lewin, two restless and generous women who have succeeded in building their business and helping people. And closer in my small world the most important ones are my family. My husband and my two kids. These three angels The Lord put in my path to give me strength, motivation, and everyday encouragement to go out there, face the challenges and grow to reach my dreams.
