Meet Evelyn Whitttaker | Founder & CEO of Angel Wings™ Luxury Healthcare Group LLC, a concierge healthcare company redefining care through compassion, dignity, and excellence

We had the good fortune of connecting with Evelyn Whitttaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evelyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My decision to start my own business was shaped by a sudden, life-altering experience with my family. In 2017, my mother passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest. In that moment, my daughters — who were only 15 and 11 years old at the time — performed CPR on their grandmother before help arrived. Despite their efforts, my mother later passed.
That experience changed everything for me. It wasn’t just the loss — it was witnessing my children step into a crisis no child should ever have to face, and seeing firsthand how quickly life can shift without warning. It exposed the emotional weight families carry during medical emergencies and the lasting impact those moments leave behind.
Later, navigating my father’s health journey reinforced how fragmented and overwhelming care can be for families trying to do the right thing while holding themselves together. As a mother, and someone who had spent most of my life in healthcare, I knew there had to be a better way to support people during their most vulnerable moments.
Angel Wings was created so families would never feel alone in crisis, recovery, or loss. I wanted to build a company rooted in compassion, dignity, and presence — where care extends beyond tasks and into truly supporting both patients and their loved ones. My thought process wasn’t about entrepreneurship for its own sake; it was about turning lived experience into meaningful support for others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Angel Wings™ Luxury Healthcare Group LLC was built to redefine how care feels. What sets us apart is that we don’t view healthcare as a checklist of tasks—we view it as a human experience. Our model blends clinical understanding with compassion, dignity, and a luxury-level standard of service, ensuring both patients and families feel supported during life’s most vulnerable moments.
My journey to building Angel Wings was anything but easy. I come from a healthcare background and a family rooted in service, but stepping into entrepreneurship meant learning how to translate purpose into structure, systems, and sustainability. I faced challenges ranging from navigating compliance and staffing to building trust in an industry that often prioritizes speed over presence. I overcame those challenges by staying anchored in my “why,” being willing to learn continuously, and surrounding myself with people who aligned with the vision rather than just the role.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that leadership requires both strength and softness. You can set high standards while still leading with empathy. You can build a profitable business without compromising integrity. And you don’t have to look like everyone else in your industry to be successful.
What I want the world to know about Angel Wings is that we are intentional. We were created from lived experience, loss, resilience, and love. Our brand stands for care that honors people as individuals, supports families as a whole, and treats moments of transition—whether birth, recovery, illness, or end of life—with the respect they deserve. This work isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am, and it’s the legacy I’m building for my children and the communities we serve.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d want them to experience Houston the way I love it—through culture, food, energy, and moments to slow down.
We’d start with brunch at The Breakfast Klub or Le Jardinier for something elevated, then spend time walking through Museum District, especially the Museum of Fine Arts and a peaceful stop at Hermann Park. One evening would absolutely include dinner in River Oaks or Uptown, followed by a relaxed night at a rooftop spot like Z on 23 for city views.
I’d make sure we spent time in Montrose for its art, creativity, and character—boutiques, coffee shops, and local galleries—then head to The Heights for shopping, antique finds, and a cozy dinner. A visit to Discovery Green or Buffalo Bayou Park would be perfect for fresh air and reflection, especially around sunset.
Houston’s food scene is unmatched, so we’d explore everything from upscale dining to hidden gems—great sushi, soul food, and international cuisine that truly represents the city’s diversity. To unwind, I’d include a spa day or wellness experience, because Houston also knows how to balance hustle with rest.
What makes Houston special to me is its people—ambitious, creative, diverse, and welcoming. There’s always something happening, but there’s also room to breathe, reflect, and connect. It’s a city that lets you build, dream, and still enjoy life along the way.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout first to my family, because everything I build is rooted in them. My parents shaped my foundation, and my mother’s compassion and strength continue to guide my leadership every day. Her sudden passing changed our lives forever, but her legacy lives on through the values she instilled in us.
My children are my greatest source of purpose. My oldest, now 28, carried deep grief after losing her grandmother, and watching her transform that pain into personal growth has been a powerful reminder of resilience. My 25-year-old continues our family’s healthcare legacy, working in med-surg with the same heart for care she witnessed growing up. My 21-year-old serves in the military, embodying courage, discipline, and service. My 18-year-old daughter is in college pursuing pre-law, driven by justice and a desire to make meaningful change. And my 16-year-old son reminds me daily of quiet strength; I hope he carries forward the resilience and integrity of his pawpaw, even in his final days.
I’m also deeply grateful for the mentors, colleagues, and women in healthcare and business who have poured into me over the years—offering guidance, encouragement, and belief during moments of uncertainty. None of this is done alone, and every chapter of my journey has been shaped by the people who stood beside me.
