Meet Farah Mian | Bridal Hair Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Farah Mian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Farah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be completely frank, there was no thought process. I was really fortunate that my entire career sort of fell into my lap. I remember completing cosmo school & thinking- okay? what’s next? I have to assist at a salon. I have always been a girly girl so I know a career in beauty was always very appealing to me but I did not know exactly what I wanted to specialize in. After assisting for a couple years I realized I wanted nothing to do with the salon life- I needed to find my own way, & I always found hair design more rewarding for me personally. It required me to be super creative & the results always put me on a slight high. That’s how I knew what I wanted to specialize in. It always feels really special to me when someone books me for the most important day of their life!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out doing hair for bridal parties. I would take at least 10-15 clients a day some days. I started to perfect my craft and wanted to focus on singular clients only & of course brides. I think something that sets me apart is my personality & patience. When I show up for a gig I know the environment I am entering is likely to be a bit stressful so I always enter any space with good energy. I think that is a great way to set the tone for my clients experience-they know I am going to take care of them. I have learned that the bad days don’t define my career & the good days re-assure me to keep going.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly feel that I manifested this career myself. I can credit my family & mom for my drive & work ethic. I grew up in a single parent household and life wasn’t always all that easy so I knew one thing- to work very hard & be consistent.
