We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Savoie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In the beginning stages of creating my business, my sole intention was to create a community of women that were on their spiritual healing journey. I felt alone and I wanted to build a community with women that had a similar story as me and desired feminine connection. This is how Mind Body and Movement was formed. As a yoga instructor and former dancer, I created offerings that included practices that focused on mental health and connection while also incorporating somatic movement intended to release stagnant energy and promote physical health. As Mind Body and Movement continues to grow, I always remain in alignment with the initial mission of spiritual wellness and community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Mind Body and Movement is a holistic sanctuary devoted to the emotional, spiritual, and energetic well-being of women and mothers. Rooted in ancestral wisdom and modern mindfulness, we create sacred spaces for women to reconnect with their intuition, release generational patterns, and rise into their most radiant, aligned selves. Whether you’re navigating motherhood, healing past wounds, or simply seeking deeper meaning in your everyday life — we’re here to support you with heart-centered tools and community-centered healing.

Throughout the evolution of Mind Body and Movement, many lessons were learned and challenges were faced. In the beginning stages of my business, I lacked the discernment to properly choose collaborations as I felt the call to offer my services to as many people as I possibly could. Through this experience, I not only drained my energy dry, but I also ended up working with individuals that did not align with the mission of Mind Body and Movement. Since then, I approach events and collaborations with discernment and intention. I have learned to be more confident in my abilities while also maintaining a studious spirit to continue learning and growing as a healer. The hardest part of having a spiritual wellness business is navigating imposter syndrome and knowing that I am capable of serving women and mothers on their spiritual journey.

Mind Body and Movement is set apart from other spiritual wellness business because I lead with integrity and experience. Each of my women’s circles were birthed from personal experience and healing. For example, I do not lead a healing circle focused on a topic that I have not personally experienced and worked through myself. This allows each participant to feel a sense of belonging and understanding because I have struggled with the same challenges as them. I take pride in using the same modalities that have helped me out of dark spaces to help others on their journey.

As I continue to serve more individuals on their healing journey, I want to continue highlighting the fact that we are not alone. It is challenging but there is always a community ready to support you. I want the world to know that I have. used my traumatic experiences to grow into the person I am today, and so can anyone else! Your story does not control your destiny.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Houston and I enjoy adventures and good vibes! My favorite museum is Seismique located in Katy! I would definitely take my bestie there to take fun photos and grab a few drinks. Afterward we would go to DRIPPED Birria tacos for the best tacos in town. I am an avid reader so we have to visit Kindred Stories located in 3rd ward and grab dinner at Green Seed Vegan. I truly enjoy being outdoors so visiting, Hermann, Buffalo Bayou and Memorial Park is a must! Our next stop would be POST for a variety of food choices and drinks. Our evening would be spent at Roots Wine Bar for a super fun wine tasting experience.

A few more places on our list of places to visit are LitJava Coffee shop and book store, Just Kidding Play Cafe (because we have to incorporate the kids in all of our fun), The Color Factory and my favorite restaurant Mo Betta Brews!

Houston has so many hidden gems and fun places to see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, Hysaan Savoie. Throughout my journey of self discovery, entrepreneurship and healing, he has been my grounding force. He supports me through all things and uplifts me in my lowest moments. He is the person that encouraged me to become a yoga instructor and he continues to be my motivation and solid foundation.
