We had the good fortune of connecting with Indigo Fox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indigo, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ever since I was a kid, all I wanted to do was sing. When I was fourteen, I wrote my first song, recorded it with my garbage laptop microphone, and loaded it onto my iPod nano to show my friends. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on writing and recording my own songs.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always struggled to explain my art, but I just released a new song, “Gabriel,” that can speak for me. If you want to know who Indigo Fox is, the “Gabriel” music video says it all. Bright pink and purple lights, shiny cyberpunk crop tops, and wandering around rooftops in leather pants to the sound of sparkling synths. That’s Indigo Fox. This song has been my greatest challenge yet as an artist; it required intense vulnerability, tremendous patience, and a good bit of faith to get to the finish line. I learned so much from the experience and the best part is that there is so much more to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I could write an entire travel guide on my favorite spots in Houston, but here’s my top five:

1. Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company – I love craft beer and St. Arnold’s has some of the best in the state. Plus, all their bread is sooo good. That Bavarian pretzel is literally to die for.

2. Holey Moley – I love mini golf–especially indoor mini golf. Holey Moley has three well designed 9 hole courses, a full bar with some super cute house cocktails and great bites to boot. Great for dates, family outings, or really any occasion.

3. Cyclone Anaya’s – I’m not usually super into Tex-Mex, but I love this place so much. The margs are soooo good, The food is great too, but I’m def going for the margaritas first. Catch me at happy hour in Midtown.

4. The Flat – This is one of my favorite bars in Montrose. It feels swanky and chic without the high dollar price tag. They have frozen mojitos that even my most ardent mojito hating friends and family (I’m looking at you, mom) cannot get enough of. They also have great pizza and a cute patio seating area.

5. Meow Wolf Radio Tave – Meow Wolf is an immersive art exhibit that I can best describe as a psychedelic radio station. It’s also right across the street from St. Arnold’s so you can grab a few beers and then vibe out in this one of a kind experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I have to thank my mom. Not only is she incredibly supportive, but she also has a wicked eye for detail.Whether it’s a stray lock of hair on a video shoot or a slightly out-of-tune snare drum in the chorus, she will catch it every time. I also would like to thank my voice teacher, musical sensei, and de facto life coach, Brian Lucas. Brian not only took my technical skills to new heights but has also helped me find myself as an artist and as a person. He has really challenged me to confront the limitations I put on myself and break through them to see what I’m actually capable of.
Thank you both for being such an important part of my life.
