We had the good fortune of connecting with Jah Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk has been a major part of my entreprenuership success. I have always adopted the concept that “If your dreams don’t scare you, you are not dreaming big enough. Knowing how to take chances and understand that, in order to get to the next level risks are essential, big or small is key. Taking risk has allowed me to grow and gain confidence. Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Rag Junkies mission is to promote confidence, individuality, and self expression through sustainable fashion. The idea of making old things new, having creative expression and at the same time having a positive impact on the environment is important to our brands identity. Im most proud of being able to do what I love everyday, seeing my clients and customers satisfied is rewarding. Making a impact on the environment is rewarding.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First Things first we would go shop at some of the local thrift stores in Houston, with my brand being a sustainable fashion brand I know that Houston has some hidden gems for sure. I would also hope that I had curated a event that weekend. Rag Junkie curates Thrift Culture events @thriftculturehtx geared towards sustainable fashion and the community. We would probably end up in a art museum checking out a exhibit from a local Houston artist. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my family, friends, and my Rag Junkie Tribe.
