We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalesa Dismuke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jalesa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ideally, when I thought about owning my own business . It always seemed like it was dream more than anything . I figured I was going to attend college, work in my career field and eventually retire owning my own restaurant. I catered for a family members anniversary and the feedback was better than I expected . I loved the feeling that came over me and I wanted to experience it more. That motivated me to take the next step towards building clientele and my business .
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Growing up , I was a child who was very quiet but also very intuitive. I would watch my mom, my grandma and my aunt cook in the kitchen often . There were also times when I would watch the food network channel just to watch something different when I was tired of watching cartoons . I never realized I could actually cook until later in life when I had to cook for myself. The passion I have for food is undeniable and as cliche as it may sound, ” you can taste the love in every bite.” I’ve been fighting hard to stand here and be able to tell me story with a smile because it isn’t easy . Owning your own business has its up and down just like anything else would but sticking to plan it what makes it successful. LesaSpiceKitchen is a selfmade catering service whom offers seafood steak and pasta specialities while also offering southern homestyle comfort foods.I like to think that LesaSpiceKitchen has the potential to be a fine dining restaurant with a comfort twist . I want the works to know that I’m here to stay , I am passionate about my food and you guys will see me in a brick and mortar pretty soon . I’ve learned so much about the business side of things within the last few years and I’m grateful to still be here.

My family and friends have pushed during this process and I am truly grateful to have them by misidentified during this journey ! A special shout out to my brother for being that encouraging angel on my shoulder , without his words floating through my head , I don’t know where I would be . He truly loved me and I know he would be so proud to call me his little sis and “lil baby” .
