We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Sims and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew that supporting a business brought value and success but I never really understood how much hard work and sacrifice went into conducting and facilitating an actual business. I spent dozens of dollars on body and self care products, I knew what I looked for in a purchase and the quality of that product, so I was inspired to achieve that by learning the craft and then branding my own self care line with candles and home goods. I immediately dived into my business without an actual goal or plan. I knew what I wanted to do and I went for it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Outside of candles, I am a Benefits Coordinator with an 8 year background in Human Resources. Being able to deliver a sense of peace, helping people establish an important decision and reaching a goal has always brought me joy. Being in a corporate setting was not necessarily my dream or goal but I feel like I was placed their to establish all of the life long relationships I have built with several people. It was by no means easy. I had been discriminated against, over looked, etc. I overcame these challenges by utilizing the resources I had available. Often times people fear a challenge or become intimidated by their leaders but I gracefully demanded respect. I learned that every battle isn’t worth a fight. I’ve humbled myself and took notes on people. I’ve learned mind over matter. What I want the world to know about Brielle+Simone is, this brand is centered around self care, reclaiming your peace and nurturing your soul with positive vibes and energy. You don’t have to spend a fortune to experience a luxury product. The goal is to achieve happiness at home. Your home should be your sanctuary. Establish that serenity at home and take it with you wherever you go.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t have too many places that I know about as of the last couple of years since I’m a mother of two little girls. My idea of fun has been growing with them and sharing my time together with them. The Galleria, Uptown area never disappoints. Some really cool places in my experience has been Painting With a Twist, brunch at North Italia, a relaxing massage with manicure and pedicure, things to unwind and enjoy nature. Being in crowded places doesn’t appeal to me since the pandemic.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to recognize my parents, my sisters and my boyfriend for their endless efforts and support as it relates to my business. I have wanted to quit so many times but they refused to let me. Even when I was sure that certain people would support and like my ideas, but then they showed me otherwise, my family and a few friends continued to invest in my vision and support my dream.
