Meet Jenevi Gonzalez | Entrepreneur & Nonprofit Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenevi Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenevi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Jenevi’s Pet Services because I’ve always had a natural bond with animals, and I knew pet owners wanted more than just a service. They wanted someone they could fully trust. I first worked with another small business, but I quickly realized their practices didn’t align with my values. There was a lack of transparency and honesty that didn’t sit right with me. That experience pushed me to start Jenevi’s Pet Services, built on professionalism, genuine care, and integrity.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Jenevi’s Pet Services is about more than just walking dogs, it’s about giving pet parents peace of mind. What sets us apart is professionalism and integrity in an industry that’s often treated casually. We’re bonded, insured, certified in pet first aid and CPR, and built on honesty because clients deserve someone they can truly trust.
I’m proud of the community we’ve built and the trust our clients show us every day. It hasn’t been easy, early on I had to prove this wasn’t just a side gig, but a real business. The lesson I’ve learned is that consistency and integrity matter most. Show up, do right by people and their pets, and the business grows.
At the end of the day, I want the world to know Jenevi’s Pet Services is more than a business, it’s a commitment to care, trust, and community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to town for a week, I’d give them the full H-Town experience. We’d kick things off at The Breakfast Klub, then hit Teotihuacán for great Tex Mex and Pinkerton’s for BBQ. Nights would be for hopping down 20th or dancing at Whiskey River with at least one night at an Astros game. Go ’Stros! Daytime would be a mix of culture and fun: exploring the Museum District and strolling Post Houston and the IronWorks shops. All in the A/C because you know it’s hot here. By the end of the week, they’d leave full and with a real taste of Houston’s charm.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family encouraged me to take the leap when starting Jenevi’s Pet Services, and they’ve supported me through the ups and downs of business ownership. But most importantly, I have to give credit to my clients, the pet parents who trusted me with their four-legged family. Their loyalty and word-of-mouth support shaped this business, and I’m truly grateful for that community. I also want to recognize the incredible teams, now like family, at HTX Dog Rescue and Dogs Got Souls. Being involved with those nonprofits has kept me grounded in my purpose and constantly reminded me why I chose a life and career centered around animals.
