We had the good fortune of connecting with JoAnna Sibrian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JoAnna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I decided to quit my job after 1 year of having my son. One week went by and I was not used to being a stay at home mom, so I decided to start baking. Started with cookies to brownies to banana Bundt cake and then started to focus more on cheesecakes. It’s been a year since I started my own small business. I also went back to work and luckily am able to take my son with me. So I basically work a regular clock in job and still take orders on what I enjoy doing, baking. The name was inspired by my son Jayden. Just combined his name with the world delicious and we became Jaylicious Sweets.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I try to add variety to my menu. I also am up for a challenge if a customer wants me to bake something special for them. I’m proud of how much support I have from my family. They have also been my taste testers which have helped increase my menu options. Was it easy, of course not what in life is easy. Without the obstacles that are thrown your way how can you succeed. Lessons I’ve learned is just to have fun and not stress about what you do. Baking is a passion not a job. What I do is for my family and of course for those amazing reviews I get from all my customers. I am flexible with my orders and I always try to please all my customers and make ordering with me easy as can be. Making sure they always want to come back.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely take them to the woodlands love market street. Great brunch places and also green space for the kiddos to run around. You can also rent canoes and paddle along the waterway. A place to try of course is Whiskey cake they have amazing food and the dessert is amazing. Must try their famous whiskey cake. Allen parkway is also a very nice place to run, walk and of course to have a picnic with the best view of the City. Memorial park is also an amazing place to enjoy the outdoors. If your ever downtown you just try the rustic. They have live music and great food and drinks. Also while your there you can visit discovery green, nice place to walk around and take pictures.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My son. Without having him I wouldn’t have pursued this passion of baking. Wanting to be a dedicated mom full time and also being able to provide for him, I strive to succeed just for him.
