We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliana Buenrostro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliana, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Mexico and raised in Houston, Texas from a very young age. Growing up my dad would always tell me that if I wanted something I had to work for it, nothing was ever given to me growing up. I started working at the age of 14 at my dad’s restaurant and then started working at Subway making $6.00 an hour going to school, playing soccer and helping my parents with any small bills I could. I am forever grateful for my dad and for instilling in me that anything worth having is worth working for that is why I am who I am now, I am not scared of working I am not scared to go above and beyond !
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a self taught photographer, growing up my mom loooooved to take photos of us and I mean loooooved and I remember I disliked taking them because she had every pose in the book! It was not just one photo is was a session!! So you can say my Yoda was my mom and once I got my hands on a camera it was over with! I want each and every one of my clients to leave with an experience when they book me, I want them to have a happy memory of their session so when years down the line they look back at the photographs from the session they can also remember about how fun and nice the photographer was! I want to leave an incredible impression with all of my clients and I strive to have satisfied clients each and every time and if they are not we will do whatever it is to fix it, and that is what I believe sets me apart! It was not easy to get to where I am today, not at all I battled with Anxiety and Depression I am a SAHM who built a business while also being a Wife, Mommy and everything else that motherhood comes with. God has truly been my life saver each and every day without Him I literally would not be here and of course the support of my amazing husband, family, friends, community and my therapist! I have learned to not let the likes, the follows, the comments dictate my brand or my worth! I want the world to know that when you feel like your world is falling apart it may be that it is finally falling into place, seek Jesus and anything worth having is worth working for!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow this one is a tough one! Houston is just soooo big!! We would totally have to visit Summermoon Cafe in Katy grab a coffee and then head over to Terry Hershey Park for a little stroll depending on the time of year, maybe see some Bluebonnets! I would do Whataburger duhhh because you can not come to Texas and NOT try Whataburger! Dinner, I would suggest to visit the Aquarium Downtown! I am country gal I love Fulshear, Waller, College Station so trips to the country are a must! Oh and we can’t forget to stop by to the Bucees in Waller!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ohhh my goodness… where to begin for starters God because without him there would be no Jujuu, my husband for buying me my first DSLR, my in-laws for allowing me to keep their DSLR after I used it and fell in love with it !! My sissy for always being there for me when I need someone to watch the kids while I have a session, Lindsey my very first client ever, she allowed me to capture her family session without ever seeing any of my work! Janelle Rendon, my very first blogger friend who gave me the opportunity to do a session for her back when I was just starting my social media and Katy Moms Network Audrey and Natalie have been the sweetest mamas ever they have connected me with tons of beautiful people throughout the years and they gave me the opportunity to shoot one of their Moms Night Out event that was an absolute success!! The list goes on and on and I just want to say that I am forever grateful to be able to do this, it is because of all of my support that I can continue to do this.
