We had the good fortune of connecting with K. Fields and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi K. Fields, what role has risk played in your life or career?

You have to be willing to bet on yourself. Accepting at least some level of risks is true for every entrepreneur. You have to have some real guts to say OK, I’m going to go against everything I know, and try this! Trust me, I have had my moments of weakness, wanting to give up on my goals and just accept my losses as the end of it all. Some instances took longer than others to get “back in the saddle”. But no matter how overwhelming the feelings of defeat hits, dust off and go again toward your goals.

I find this kind of blinded perseverance through those tough moments create an abundance of unexpected opportunities for your ultimate success. Those moments mold you into a person capable of achieving the success you truly seek. You cheat yourself of your chance for further development if you fail to take any risks.

Being Houston’s #1 Business Consultant for focusing on Black Owned Businesses and Entrepreneurs, I have helped in launching and growing several local businesses and brands. In 2021 Noir Legacy Ventures, LLC through Noir Legacy Consulting Group and the Houston Black Business Consultant (HBBC) assisted 12 new locally black owned businesses to start that are now thriving and growing within our community.

As a creative entrepreneur, I am inspired by the pool of brilliantly talented individuals I meet in and around Houston on a daily basis. With that said I am extremely passionate and excited to announce UNITE TV Houston’s Urban Culture Channel initially launching as a Roku Channel devoted to highlighting Houston’s diverse urban culture from the perspective of its community content creators. It will feature intriguing original media productions by an amazing team of camera artists and production executives such as Terrance “Mr. TP” Green, GODDS COLLECTIVE Dennis Sullivan, Donald J, Senub M. Rah, and Christopher “C Good” Gooden of Sky Hi Entertainment. UNITE TV Urban Houston will serve as the premier digital platform to host and market the latest in Houston’s urban culture, entertainment and businesses to the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Well, there is never a dull moment in Houston, Texas. So many amazingly diverse cultures make up this city I call home. If I had to show you the city through my eyes, I would start with a great meal. Houston is known around the world for it’s amazing infusion of international cuisine.

Whether it’s the flavorful drip at Dirty Tacos, the savory soul food of the popular neighborhood eatery Micki’s Cafe, or the perfectly creole seasoned and crispy Frenchie’s Fried Chicken, located just blocks away from the historical Texas Southern University. You just can’t miss in my city when it comes to great food.  However, the foodie in me can’t resist any opportunity to indulge in the newer hot spot restaurants such as the trendy Drunken Corner or the 5-star dining experience at former NBA Houston Rocket, James Harden’s Thirteen.

A bit of shopping for some of the world’s top fashion brands at the Galleria shopping mall, it’s time to hit the city’s nightlife. Entertainment in Houston is a blast, you’ll be either “drapped up” in one of cities many luxurious nightclubs or be “dripped out” getting your groove on within the popular midtown bar area. Either way Houston has something to offer anyone seeking to soak up a lil bit of this H-town sauce.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I would go on and on attempting to thank the many people that have believed in me when even I had doubts of pursuing my goals. First I have to thank GOD. Also, I could not help but mention my loving, and supportive family, business partners, and peers. I genuinely thank each and every one of you sincerely. I have been particularly inspired by the mentorship and support of Mr. Bill Richardson. Bill has been an integral part of my success as a young entrepreneur coming up through the ranks.

The opportunity to study under his wing afforded me a wealth of real-world people skills and matured my internal grit to withstand the obstacles one faces when in pursuit of a worthy goal. I absorbed daily displays of humanity without the compromise of integrity from Mr. Bill. I am honored to carry these lessons as I transition into my role as a creative community leader for change, right here in Houston, Texas.
