We had the good fortune of connecting with K-way Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi K-Way, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The most important decision I made contributed to my success was planning and then taking action because it starts in your head and once it becomes a plan next is the actions because what good is a plan with no actions.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from others is I have my own identity that’s most importantly you wanna stand out not fit in. I’m most proud of me staying dedicated and firm on what I wanted to do with my career because there are so many ups and downs in my field and it’s easy to give up and harder to keep going so yea I’m most proud of that about myself. The music industry is one of the most difficult professions to be in because everyone is trying to do it so it takes a lot of focus hard work and dedication to make it. I’ve learned the music industry is 10% talent and 90% business so it is import to know what’s going business wise if not you will find yourself in a bad situation. I built my label on keeping it real with the up and coming artist because the industry don’t fight fair so I teach my artist the business side in case they decide on starting there own label. And in my opinion believe have of what you see and none of what you hear always do your home work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Houston so a night in the city I’ll probably take them to a place called the address, 5015, swaggers and Domaine nite club and when it comes to food we have a nice soul food restaurant called Esters, trill burgers and James harden restaurant 13 oh and also steak 48 it really so much to do in Houston it’ll take me forever to tell but those are some of my spots

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I’ll give glory to God he is the man and my father and also I would like to shout out my G.M.G.N team for help with the ground work and just staying positive and to my wife for all her support even when I was getting discouraged. Last but not least to all the producers I worked with on a few of my projects.
