We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacey Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kacey, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from Houston.

My dad was a personal trainer and firefighter pretty much my entire life. His goal was to always “save lives through fitness.” He passed away in 2017 from lung cancer, and as sad as it was it was so gratifying to see just how many people he touched through fitness or fighting fires. I always want my life to honor who my daddy is to me and that’s how Flye Girl Fitness was born. I chose use Flye Girl because that’s the nickname he gave me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fitness and training is personal for me. I care about all of my clients and their goals. I couldn’t care less about the money, I truly want them to win. There’s a moment in everyone’s journey where you finally realize how much your body has changed and how healthy you’ve become. I want that for them. My sessions are more than just a workout. I teach them about nutrition and the science behind working out because I want them to stay healthy with or without me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to eat (casual) is Flip N’ Patties. Lotus is a close second.

Outside of that, my friends probably won’t visit me because I’m going to make them workout all week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband for believing that I can do anything. He support any and every random idea I come up with. Including my bright idea to move everything (including the cars) out of the garage so I could make my own little gym. Dealing with me everyday is not for the faint of heart, and he does so with such grace, LOL.

Livvie, my little no limit soldier. She’s been my assistant and my broke best friend since she was born 2 years ago.

My mom… well she’s not my mom anymore because she’s Livvie Gigi. But she is always happy to support whatever I have going on.

My photographer/MUA/Cheerleader, Chelsey. She fusses at me about posting pics on IG and I fuss at her about getting enough protein.

My trainer, The King of Fitness. I told him I needed lose my baby weight and I wanted to look like a “video model” and all he said was “Bet. I’m going to be on your head but you’re about to change the game.” It’s been up ever since!

The original Flye Girls: Brittany, Dyonna, and Vanetta. They took a chance on me and for that, I’m forever grateful.

Last but never least, my daddy Reginald Flye Sr. Dad, I do this for you and I hope I’ve made you proud. You’ll always be a superhero to me. 20 is good, Dad. 20 is good.
