We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlin Teel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlin, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Originally I started an online boutique as a creative outlet when my daughter was young. My husband is a professional bull rider and I started making myself custom jackets for events. From there, I had other people contacting me about jackets which sparked a new branch of my conline store. I got heavily into embroidery in order to personalize jackets that would be long lasting and unique. From there, my business organically but quickly took a turn and became soley custom jackets, clothing and hats!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Shop Teel is most known for custom jackets. I absolutely love creating one of a kind jackets for weddings, sports teams, moms, artists and more. I truly love working with each customer to discuss the elements and dreams they have for custom items. It is so soecial to create a unique and sentimental item for a bride or a mom and to know they will take pride in wearing it.

I am self taught in every aspect of my business which as been challenging but extremely rewarding.

Shop Teel has had the opportunity to create items for Mary J Blige, Pitbull, Iggy Azalea, Post Malone, Rick Springfield and more amazing artist.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Bryan Texas and absolutely love the charm and feel of downtown Bryan where you will find so many unique shops. While you’re there, my absolute favorite Mexican food is Cilantro.

Century square is a totally different feel but a fun new development suitable for families as well as all ages. They have several restaurants, a turf area for kids to play, shopping, a movie theater, an awesome candy store. I could stay there for hours!

Of course, if you’re in BCS you have to check out some of the Texas A&M campus. Aggie baseball games are incredibly fun as well as Aggie Park!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost my wonderful customers that have supported me along the way! Without such loyal customers I would not be here.

And of course, my husband and children for supporting me every step of the way and helping in every aspect.
